Chakra System as a Human Blueprint
All matter is energy vibrating at different frequencies. The human body is surrounded by an energy field comprised of a pure blueprint. The word “chakras” comes from Sanskrit, meaning “wheels.” References to chakras can be found in ancient texts like the Upanishads.
The energy bodies and physical bodies vibrate at different frequencies. The main seven chakras are recognized as energy vortices located in the subtle body along the spine. Each chakra has a direct connection with the basic elements – Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Ether.
They are represented by symbols, sounds, and musical notes, and possess unique attributes. The chakras influence the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of human consciousness.
The 7 Major Chakras
Root Chakra or Mooladhara Chakra
The root chakra keeps us connected to Earth’s energies for our bodily and material needs. It serves as the foundation for life on Earth. Located at the base of the spine, its colour is red, and it is associated with the element Earth. The root chakra is connected to the endocrine gland and influences traits such as survival, security, support, stability, balance, trust, thriving, and healthy connections. A healthy root chakra promotes a sense of security, worthiness, thriving, and receiving material comforts, while an imbalanced one may lead to insecurity, lack of worthiness, trust issues, imbalances, and a feeling of unsafety.
Sacral Chakra
Located two inches below the navel, the sacral chakra is associated with the element of Water and its colour is orange. It is linked to the ovaries and testicles. This chakra is where the exploration of the world through the senses begins. Acknowledging and honouring needs and desires leads to a joyful personality that can spread joy and accept oneself and others, fostering healthy relationships. Traits influenced by the sacral chakra include sexuality, sensuality, creativity, needs, desires, pleasure, and nurturance.
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra resides at the center of the ribs. Its colour is yellow, and it is associated with the element of Fire. The pancreas is connected to this chakra. The solar plexus chakra holds the consciousness of one’s power. When in balance, one can stand in their own power, make decisions, pursue goals, establish boundaries, and respect oneself.
However, dealing with authority figures or figures of authority becomes challenging for someone with an imbalanced solar plexus chakra. They may oscillate between appeasement, compliance, outbursts, rebellion, or exhibit passive-aggressive behaviour.
Heart Chakra
Located at the center of the chest, the heart chakra’s colour is green, and it is associated with the element of Air. The thymus gland is connected to the heart chakra. It serves as the seat of self-love, generosity, and compassion. Our relationships with others depend on our primary relationship with ourselves.
A healthy and open heart chakra enables the giving and receiving of love, fostering prosperity. Traits influenced by the heart chakra include love, compassion, generosity, balance in giving and receiving love, and the ability to create loving relationships.
Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, situated at the throat, is associated with the colour turquoise blue and the element of sound. Our communication with others is deeply intertwined with how we perceive ourselves. Feeling unworthy can hinder self-expression and restrict our ability to communicate authentically. The throat chakra is closely related to self-esteem and self-confidence.
Third Eye Chakra
Located at the center of the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is indigo in colour and is associated with the element of Light. The thyroid and parathyroid glands are connected to this chakra. The third eye chakra heightens awareness and foresightedness, enabling a higher perspective on situations and circumstances. It facilitates the development of psychic abilities, insight, and intuition. This chakra not only allows for embracing a higher vision through intuition but also empowers the implementation of dreams, ideas, and visions.
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is situated in the center of the head. Its colours are purple and white, and its element is Light. The pineal and pituitary glands are associated with this chakra. The crown chakra represents the connection with universal consciousness. It is the chakra of knowing, aligning with inner wisdom drawn from the power of the Source and universal intelligence. This chakra allows us to perceive the universe with a sense of oneness and unity consciousness. A person with a balanced crown chakra operates with an “As Me” consciousness, embracing liberation.
